Description: Our Lady of Talpa is located in East Los Angeles, known for high crime rates, drugs and gang activity. This school offers an alternative, religious-based education to students living in an otherwise violent atmosphere. Volunteers must have a college degree or related life/work experience and an interest in education. Background in sports, art and music, and fluency in Spanish helpful.
Description: St. Vincent School is located near downtown Los Angeles and is 96% Hispanic, 3% African-American, and 1% Other. St. Vincent provides a religious-based education to students amidst the consumer-driven “Garment District” of LA, near the Skid Row area. Volunteers must have a college degree or related life/work experience and an interest in education. Background in sports, art and music, and fluency in Spanish helpful.
Rosemead
Founded in 1856 by the Daughters of Charity, Maryvale has a long legacy of compassionate service by caring for some of the most vulnerable children and families in Southern California. Maryvale has programs that encompass three core areas of service: (1) Care for Foster Youth – includes the Residential Treatment Program for Girls, the Transitional Housing and After Care Program, the Emergency Placement Center for Children, and Residential Mental Health Services which combined serve over 275 children annually; (2) Early Education Centers – provide early education to over 330 children each year at two locations; and (3) the Family Resource Center which provides outpatient and school-based counseling, education, and support for over 700 parents, children, and teens annually.

Description: Cardinal Manning Center has been operating for 50 years in Skid Row, assisting in the temporary housing for men, women and their children. Cardinal Manning offers employment services, referrals, case management, a computer lab, client advocacy and individual therapy. Volunteers must have a college degree or related life/work experience, willingness to work with diverse populations, adaptability in work responsibilities and good communication skills. Bilingual skills are helpful.
